Tonia Norman (Hula Hooper) has been a performer since she was a child. Tonia began acting at age 8 for various plays at park districts, then continued performing in theater all the way into adulthood. Tonia took Theater arts classes at Columbia College Chicago, and has taken acting/improv other places as well. Tonia recently has taken dance at Hubbard Street Dance, and has been teaching herself industrial dance (thanks to Brioni Faith’s “how to industrial dance” videos!). Hooping is an activity Tonia has been doing since childhood as well, and has continued developing her hooping techniques into adulthood. Tonia has a lot of fun while combining hooping and dance. For awhile, Tonia focused on working full time office jobs but that became unfulfilling and she felt she needed to pursue a different path. About 3 years ago Tonia found yoga and meditation, which brought her back to performing and the Theater/Film industries. Since then, she has done a lot of various background acting (Thanks to 4StarCasting!) for many different TV shows, and has performed in UWWFEST by DavJasFran Entertainment at the Goodman Theatre’s Walter Lab back in October. Currently Tonia is pursuing the performing arts, and is also a yoga instructor. She loves sharing the gifts of yoga and meditation with others. It was through that, and through meeting her boyfriend John that she found her way back into doing the type of work she loves to do.
