A Drink With…Greg Caldwell

By April 15, 2015No Comments

Bartender, I’ll have a…Midletons neat. Please and thank you.

I’m SURE you remember me from such Factory shows as…Black and Blue, and my Beatles memorabilia was featured in Mop Top Festival.

I got involved with the Factory because…When I saw my first Factory show I had never laughed so hard at a play, and yet I was jealous because the actors on stage seemed to be having even more fun than I was. I was an instant fan and every show  I saw, I experienced the same thing. The actors on stage, while taking the material seriously, were having so much fun and that invited the audience to do the same. It got to the point where I wanted to be on stage giving an audience that same experience. Thankfully after more than ten years as a fan I have that opportunity.

My current/next gig is…Assistant Directing The Last Big Mistake (Show 2 of Season 23)

I give a shit about our move to Rogers Park because…They have a Capt’n Nemos and they make incredible sandwiches. From here on out our family will have a home to call our own and that can only make us thrive. We already have a name in the Chicago theater scene, but now everyone is going to know it.

If I had to force you to listen to 2 albums, they would be…Jerry Lee Lewis Live At The Star Club Hamburg (you are welcome), The Rat Pack Live At The Sands (In my opinion it is the closest thing to a Factory Show on vinyl).

My favourite Factory memory is…That first joke I presented while workshopping Black and Blue. Having that joke then being added to the script. Getting cast in the show and getting to say the line to an audience and getting a laugh.

I’m switching drinks, I’ll have a…Guinness please.

This is Greg Caldwell in his natural habitat: throwback. Understand that, despite this swinger front, the kid is a teddy bear who cuddles babies to sleep.
